Who We Are

Colin is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Outerlands. After spending over a decade researching systematic investing, Colin launched Outerlands on the thesis that robust, well-researched systematic investing strategies can and should be applied to digital assets. Prior to the spinout, Colin was Head of Strategic Investments at Horizen Labs, a successful blockchain development company, where he evaluated a variety of private investments and special situations, advised on tokenomics, and invested the balance sheet across both crypto and traditional investment vehicles. Prior to Horizen Labs, Colin spent over a decade in academia researching and teaching investments, most recently as a professor at the University of Notre Dame and as the Faculty Director for the Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing. Prior to his academic career, Colin worked in startups, economic development, and venture capital. Colin holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Pennsylvania State University, and an M.B.A from the College of William & Mary.
